The Canadian Association of Programs in Public Administration (CAPPA) is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2023 CAPPA Award for Excellence in Research is Professor Michael Howlett, Burnaby Mountain University, Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) and Professor in the Department of Political Science, at Simon Fraser University.
Professor Howlett is an internationally recognized political scientist and public policy scholar holding a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Public Innovation for Climate Change at Simon Fraser University. Since receiving his Ph.D. in 1988, he has had an extraordinary publication record including 120 refereed journal articles, 100 book chapters, 6 authored and 22 edited books. His 39,000 citations on Google Scholar rank him at the top of the field. His academic leadership and influence can be seen in his citation record, his mentoring doctoral students and co-authors, and his editing several journals and publication series.
