The School of Public Administration (SPA) invites applications for a five-year limited-term appointment as Director, commencing January 1, 2019 (negotiable). Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Management, the Director is responsible for strategic planning for the school, its enrollment, academic and executive programs, personnel and budget as well as its general administration. The Director is also a faculty member and will be appointed at a rank of associate or full professor, appropriate to qualifications. As such, the successful candidate will teach two courses, maintain a research portfolio, and demonstrate respect for and a strong ability to work with students and foster their success. Following this appointment, the Director may enter a career-stream faculty position within the School of Public Administration at a rank appropriate to his/her qualifications.
Candidates will have a PhD or equivalent in public administration or management, or in a cognate discipline of the social sciences such as political science or sociology. The ideal candidate for the role of Director will exhibit the following skills and characteristics:
