CAPPA is excited to open the call for nominations for the Kernaghan award for excellence in research. The Kenneth Kernaghan Award is for career achievement in research by a faculty member who is part of the Canadian public administration community as evidenced by being appointed at a Canadian university or college program that is a member of CAPPA or
being a Canadian citizen appointed at a public administration or policy program outside Canada.
The award honours the memory of Kenneth Kernaghan, a distinguished public administration researcher, especially in the area of ethics and values, who taught for many years at Brock University, and served as editor of Canadian Public Administration.
Nomination
Directors of programs that are members of CAPPA are invited to nominate a faculty member in their program or a faculty member appointed in a public administration program outside Canada who is a Canadian citizen. Nominations should include a letter about how the nominee meets the criteria for the award, the nominee’s most recent curriculum vitae, and any other materials that are supportive of the nomination.
Criteria for the Award
The three criteria for the award are productivity, quality of the research, and influence of the research. The criteria will be weighted equally. The nominator should apply these criteria taking into account the nominee’s area of research and the intellectual community or communities with which the nominee is affiliated.
Awards Committee
Nominations will be reviewed by a committee consisting of Professors Ian Roberge (York University), Justin Longo (University of Regina) and Audrey L’Espérence (ENAP). Questions about the criteria or process should be addressed to Professor Roberge.
Deadline and Submission of Nominations
The deadline for submission of nominations is 12 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2025. Nomination materials should be emailed in one PDF file to Professor Roberge at iroberge@yorku.ca.
